Onigiri Action to Feed the Hungry
Updated: Jan 14, 2019
NY de Volunteer collaborated with the Japanese American Association, Japan Consulate, and JET Alumni Association to make onigiri for the non-profit Table for Two. The activity was to support Table for Two's initiative to donate five meals to needy children for every onigiri photo posted to social media. Volunteers recruited by NY de Volunteer and our staff got together with other volunteers at the Japanese American Association to make hundreds of onigiri to help feed needy children around the world.
For some of us it was the first time making onigiri so it was a great occasion to learn something new and help people. We also got to eat them so that was also a bonus. We thank the organizers and volunteers and look forward to collaborating further with other organizations to make more positive change.
